Day 1: Provo to Skyline Dr.

It took us a while to get going... My alarm didn't go off so I was running late, and Matt struggled figuring out his clip-ins, but we finally took off from Grandma Gina and Pop's house in Provo this morning (pic on right just before leaving). Our little miracle of the day: I don't know how we did it but we didn't get a single red light the whole day. Our best of the day was when we were riding through Mapleton as we were looking at the beautiful mountains and clear blue sky and we watched a huge hawk fly right by us! The worst soon followed when we rode up a long hill at the beginning of Spanish Fork Canyon against 30 mph winds. When the worst of the winds had subsided Matt cleverly yelled back to me, "This is a breeze!" Gotta love Matt's puns :) Grandma Gina followed us in her truck today (thank you!) and so we took a handful of rest breaks where we refueled with water or food or took care of business in the bushes. For the first day 40 miles is not bad especially since most of it was uphill. Grandma Gina drove us back in to Provo for Sunday and will be driving us back Monday morning so we can pick up where we left off. We're both a little sore (okay maybe a lot) but so pumped. Can't wait for Monday! :)

    1. I didn't know your brother had type 1 diabetes... Well then like Matt and I, you've definitely seen what it's like for someone to go through that challenge. It's been a blessing for me to see how courageous people can be when they're faced with such a challenge. Love you, Maddie! Thanks for following us!
